Rule in force since the adjustment on 1 July 2026 · DRV information dated 19 October 2026

Current allowance and increase for children

The allowance is €1,122.53 net per month. It increases by €238.11 a month for each child entitled to an orphan's pension.

How the pension is reduced

If the relevant net income exceeds the applicable allowance, 40% of the excess is offset against the survivor's pension. The rule applies to widow's, widower's and surviving partner's pensions; recipients of an orphan's pension may earn income without this limit.

Which income period is used

For the pension adjustment on 1 July 2026, the DRV generally uses average net income from calendar year 2025. A later increase in income is normally considered at the next adjustment on 1 July 2027. The individual calculation depends on the type and amount of income reported.
