Housing benefit in 2027: government approves a reform draft
The federal government has approved a draft that would change Wohngeld from 1 January 2027. It must still pass through the remaining legislative process.

- Suspending the regular adjustment scheduled for 2027.
- Halving the permanent heating-cost component.
- A revised calculation formula and simpler requirements for some evidence.
Applications already approved
Under the draft, existing Wohngeld decisions would remain valid until their award period ends. Do not abandon a current application while waiting for the reform.
