New pension statement presents retirement dates and estimates more clearly

Deutsche Rentenversicherung has reorganised its detailed pension statement, the Rentenauskunft. The new format helps insured people in Germany see more clearly when retirement may be possible and what pension amount could result from their current record.

What the new document shows

The table shows the expected standard retirement date, options for early retirement and whether the minimum insurance periods for different pensions have been met. It also includes projected amounts and the health and long-term care insurance contributions that may be deducted. The projection uses current law and assumes that the insurance account continues to develop in line with the average of the previous five years.

Check unresolved periods

If there are gaps in the insurance record, the Rentenauskunft identifies the periods that still need clarification. Completing a Kontenklärung early can help the pension be calculated correctly and promptly; the statement does not replace the final decision on a pension application.

Who receives it and how to request it

The Rentenauskunft is sent automatically every three years from age 55. It can also be requested free of charge at any age through Deutsche Rentenversicherung's online services. There is no need to use a paid private provider.
