DRV warning: Fake emails are requesting bank and personal data

The warning applies to insured people and pension recipients across Germany. Deutsche Rentenversicherung reports fake emails that copy its logo, visual design and even writing style in an attempt to obtain personal details or banking information.

Official DRV warning published on 16 October 2026 · active fraud attempts

The pretexts used by the fake messages

  • A supposed security update that requires personal or banking information.
  • The promised delivery of an important document, such as the annual pension statement.
  • An alleged incorrect booking said to qualify the recipient for a contribution refund.

How to recognise the scam

Check the sender's actual email address, not only the displayed name. DRV states that it never asks for personal data by email. A promised payment, a request to open a link and pressure created by a very short deadline are warning signs.

What to do after receiving or opening the message

Do not open links and move the suspicious message to spam; suspected fraud can be reported through DRV's official contact form. If you already entered information, disconnect the device from the internet, contact your bank immediately and block affected cards or access, change passwords from another device, save screenshots and report the incident to the police.
