Vehicle registration and deregistration

Requirements vary for new, used, imported, registered and deregistered vehicles. Standard registration requires vehicle papers and electronic confirmations.
Documents and information to prepare
- ID or passport with a registration certificate
- Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I and Teil II
- eVB from the insurer
- SEPA direct debit mandate for vehicle tax
- Technical inspection (HU) evidence where needed
- Existing plates or a number reservation where applicable
- CoC and purchase agreement or invoice for new or imported vehicles
- Foreign documents and plates for imported vehicles
- Power of attorney and the parties’ IDs when using a representative
Important to know
Online i-Kfz services require security codes on modern vehicle documents and identification through BundID/eID.
